Committee Selection

Overview

The composition of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC) will be inclusive and representative of the diversity inherent to Washington State University and the Cougar community. Additional information on the desired committee characteristics, the committee selection process, and the form to apply for at-large positions are provided below.

Composition and Characteristics

The PSAC will include no more than 25 members, including the four Regents listed on the Search Advisory Committee page. Members will represent the following primary constituencies. Each member may represent multiple constituencies: 

  • Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Administrative Leadership
  • Donors
  • Alumni
  • Community leaders who serve on one of the Campus Chancellor Advisory Committees
  • Regents

Members will demonstrate a commitment to the following WSU core values

  • Land grant ideals
  • Community
  • Integrity, trust, and respect
  • Diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion
  • Global citizenship
  • Freedom of expression
  • Wellbeing

Membership will be balanced across the State of Washington ensuring a minimum of one member lives and / or works near each of the campus locations. Membership will include urban and rural perspectives and lived experiences.

Members will actively commit to understanding and utilizing the WSU Equity Impact Assessment tool within this search process.

Selection Process

The PSAC will consist of 25 members:

  1. Regents appointed by the Board of Regents Chairperson. The PSAC Regents will steward the Presidential Search Process.
  2. Nominated members identified by invitation to primary constituent groups to advance two candidates for consideration. Primary constituent groups include students, faculty, staff, administrative leadership, alumni, donors, and community members. 
  3. At-large members selected through a robust application process.

All members have committed to the following investment of time. Actual dates may shift and will be determined once the committee is formed.

  • PSAC search process timeline: June 2024 – January 2025
  • PSAC committee in-person onboarding: August 2024 in Pullman, WA
  • Participation in community forums and listening sessions: August – September 2024
  • Calibration meeting (3 hours – virtual) – September 2024
  • Recommendation of candidates to interview meeting (4 hours – virtual) – October 2024
  • Interviews of candidates (2-3 days 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) – November 2024
  • Additional monthly virtual meetings as required.
