Sharon Mail Kanichy

Sharon Mail Kanichy is the Tribal Liaison for the Institute for Research and Education to Advance Community Health (IREACH) in the Elson S Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University. She currently lives in Pullman, WA, but calls Neah Bay, WA home. Sharon has dedicated her life to working for the betterment of her Tribe, Tribes in Washington State, and Indian Country. As a proud 1999 graduate from Washington State University with a BA in History, she has happily combined her dedication for her work in Tribal Relations with the passion she has for her alma mater.

Sharon is an enrolled member of the Makah Tribe and a descendant of the Quinault Indian Nation. While at WSU, she also received her teacher’s certification and was a secondary teacher at Neah Bay Middle and High School for 14 years, which is located on the Makah Reservation. She then went on to be the Assistant General Manager, with most of this time serving as Acting General Manager for her tribe. This led her to her current position at WSU.

Sharon is an enthusiastic alumna of WSU. She is currently the President of the WSUAA Ku-au-mah Alumni Society, which is the Native American alumni chapter. She also currently serves on the WSUAA Board of Directors.
