Ajay Barman

Ajay Barman is currently pursuing a doctoral degree and serving a second term as the President of the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) at Washington State University, Pullman. As a passionate advocate for higher education and social equality and a first-generation student hailing from a humble rural lower caste background, he brings a unique perspective to his academic and professional work.

His doctoral research centers on understanding the impact of empowerment on life satisfaction, and outside of academia, he has been a part of over twenty different university committees, such as the Community Equity Response Team, the President’s Commission for Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation, the WSU Athletics Council, and the Student Government Council. Outside of his research and leadership roles, he is actively involved in community engagement initiatives, promoting campus safety, advocating for educational opportunities, and providing support for underrepresented groups. Through his academic pursuits and leadership experiences, he strives to contribute positively to the academic community and broader society, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion to empower others to achieve their full potential.
